AbFab references in other series/films

I can't believe I never realised this before, but I'm watching Gilmore Girls, and Lorelai made a reference to AbFab!
It's Emily's last-minute bachelorette party, and at one point Lorelai says to Emily: ab fab sweetie darling, and Emily has no idea what she's on about

So, if you find any more AbFab references in other series, post them here

That's a pretty fine reference indeed! I'm afraid I can't mention any examples myself right now but I'm sure I've heard some over the years. I'll get back to you on this...

And it's not the only time they mention AbFab. In another episode Lorelai is shocked because she's talking to someone who's never heard of it. But then again, Gilmore girls is known for its pop-culture references

 They have a whole book of them, yes.
But I do remember that scene vividly. I've always been so proud when I actually got one of those pop-culture references ^^.

I don't think I've come across any mentions of AbFab in other shows, but I'll keep my ears open.

Okay, I know this sure isn't the right thread but I couldn't find a general one...
I just wanted to share something I heard a few days ago while I was listening to a Star Trek panel with Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi from Star Trek The Next Generation) which was recorded in 2000 or 2001. She was asked what made her laugh and she replied she liked "Absolutely Fabulous" as it made her laugh. I think it's cool that Marina has such a good taste in TV shows

Not so much a refrence as an all out rip off :yuck: The first episode of a new 'comedy' on BBC1, "Mrs Brown's Boys" literally took the whole line "I was in labour so long, they had to shave me twice" word for word in it's first episode!

Angry emails were sent.

100%. Big big shame on them. You'd think at lease someone would notice on the production team!

On Britain's Got Talent last night, i'm not too sure whether you are familiar with the show but it happens every year for us in the UK and the talent show started again last night. First lady comes on and thinks that Amanda Holden was Joanna Lumley from Absolutely Fabulous.
To save me explaining it all here is the link - if you can't see it let me know. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXZsHZUjhpo

How on earth can someone confuse Amanda Holden with Jo Lumley? Was she on drugs?

I think that she actually was, she thought that Michael Mcintyre was Simon Cowell. Was nice to hear Absolutely Fabulous mention on the first show on the first act though.

Someone who can mix up Amanda Holden and Joanna is obviously blind and completely bonkers

That pretty much sums it up. It's a shame that the video's gone though, I'd have loved to see Amanda's response to this.

I can't believe she thought the other man was Simon Cowell. I got the feeling she didn't understand the programme at all, and wasn't sure what she was doing there in the first place

Re: AbFab references in other series/films

Have you guys ever heard of the show Will & Grace? One of my favorites here in the states. I'm pretty sure Karen Walker (who's like a combination of Patz and Eddy anyway) made a line that was similar to one of the later seasons of the show. Wish I could remember which episode. lol
