Oh her! O'Brien! She and Thomas are evil personified. There is no hope, sadly. She gets worse.

Yes, O'Brian, how could I forgot her name. Oh she's such a devil and I'm afraid she won't be better in season 2.

Oh, I loathed O'Brien and Thomas--two horrible human beings.

Yeah, Patsy even appeared tame against those two

I hate them too. I've only seen the first episode, but I got so angry when Thomas kicked out Bates' walking stick from under him. They really are horrible

Wait until you get to the last episode--what O'Brien does is so terrible even she feels bad about it.

Don't you just love Mr. Bates and Anna, though? (Anna being Sam's mum from LoM, of course. :thumb: )

Haha yes they're lovely. And Mr. Bates is of course Laura's dad in Lark Rise to Candleford

Yeah, that's why I cannot stand this woman. Which means that the actress does a really good job by the way. But still...

She's probably a sweetheart in real life. But we all hate her guts, as we should.

It's not a programme I watch but I believe she's quite different in the ITV1 sitcom Benidorm.

:lmao: Episode one's over and it's hilarious.

I thought I was laughing because I was squeeing over Jo but my dad is laughing because it's genuinely funny.

Re: Comic Relief - Red Nose Day

I wish I could stay up to see if there're going to be any more. I got the impression that there was considering there was none of the footage from that teaser trailer in the 'episode' that was shown.

It's killing me that I have to sleep, I want to see Joanna!

Re: Comic Relief - Red Nose Day

If though I had never watched Downton Abbey I did quite enjoy the spoof. It wasn't the most hilarious sketch they've ever written for CR but Joanna had the funniest part and performed it brilliantly. Besides Jo's character, it was mainly Jennifer who made me laugh with her hilarious facial expressions:

Since I haven't watched it I can only say that from the preview alone Jennifer as Maggie Smith was hilarious. And I am pretty sure, they both did a great job! I love the photo, thanks for uploading!

It's on the worldwide BBC Youtube account so you should be able to watch it. :thumb: I have to admit that it's not as funny as Mamma Mia was last year but they still did a great job. I also really loved Kim Catrall!

Thanks for the hint. I downloaded it from Froggie's links. I agree, Mamma Mia was a bit funnier, but this still was great and I think they really did a great job playing "their" characters. I only missed the dog, I really assumed they would show the Master of the house with his dog walking through the gardens - but from their back side :lmao:

Re: Comic Relief - Red Nose Day

Kim Cattrall was great. It wasn't as funny as Mamma Mia, no, but that's down to the subject matter I think--MM was light-hearted and easier to make "silly." My favourite bits were with Thomas, the evil footman, whom everybody actually calls "Thomas, The Evil Footman." :lmao: Also the random, dramatic looking around, and Joanna getting all upset about her station. "Honestly, gets a whiff of being a goddess in a foreign country, and she gets all uppity." :lmao:

Re: Comic Relief - Red Nose Day

I like how everyone struggled saying "Uptown Downstairs Abbey".

Spoiler:
The only real disappointment - and I'd have to be really picky - was that there was no UD content/references at all. Nor Dawn French. She's have made a great 'blind cook'. Flour flying everywhere ...

Joanna struggling with her Scottish accent and then just sitting down with the 'poshies'

"Pssst. Is she meant to be here?"
