Comic Relief - Red Nose Day

Richard Curtis was a guest on The One Show yesterday and he revealed that French & Saunders will write another sketch this year, together with Joanna! :hyper: It will be a parody on a TV show and Julie Walters might be in it as well but he hasn't revealed which show they're gonna parody this year.

Needless to say how excited I am now!

Sounds like fun. Is Richard Curtis going to be doing something for it as well? That'd be great.

I didn't see the programme, but Richard Curtis is the founder of Comic Relief, so it's likely that why he was able to have the info. He could well be contribituting something though, I don't know.

I am so excited that they'll be doing another parody and that Joanna will be in it as well. I'm sure it's going to be amazing :hyper:

I wonder what they're going to parody though. Ooh the speculation :hyper:

I heard something about that too. I really do hope it's not Glee though. No offence to anyone who watches it, but I really can't stand that show

Neither to it, I tried to watch it a couple of times but it bores me. I really have no clue what else they can/will do though, I guess we'll have to see and wait. :thumb:

Re: Comic Relief - Red Nose Day

Glee was just a guess on my part. I was just thinking after their success with Mama Mia this seemed the next obvious move - music, etc. I can 'see' Jennifer as the evil games teacher, but there's aren't any obvious parts for Dawn and Joanna but pupils I guess.

I'd prefer them to have a go at Downton Abbey, but I can't think what else?

It wasn't so bad a guess though Dandy - Glee was the first think most members of the JS forum thought of too. For some reason I have a feeling they'll do something British and not American though.

Oh, please let them do Downton Abbey. I've just finished it (it was brilliant), and I can see all sorts of stuff they could play with.

Oh yes, that would be lovely. Since Dawn was in Lark Rise, I'm sure they wouldn't to that although even I could write some scenes for them :lmao:

Ade Edmondson has just confirmed on Twitter that he's directing a Downton Abbey parody for Comic Relief. I guess that's what Dawn, Jennifer and Jo will be doing then

That's the first thing I thought about too when I read his Tweet. I have never watched Downton Abbey though so I really ought to now.

I've still not come round to watching Downton Abbey, so perhaps I should start doing that right now!

Re: Comic Relief - Red Nose Day

Really chuffed about the Downton Abbey parody (and - I suspect a bit of Upstairs Downstairs to go with it). Dawn as the cook, Mrs Patmore, Joanna as the Dowager (Maggie Smith), Jennifer as Cora? Or perhaps they could bring in June Whitfield for the Maggie Smith part and give Joanna Isobel (the Penelope Wilton part)?

Incidentally Victoria Wood did a send up of Lark Rise called 'Lark Rise to Cranchesterford'.

Yes, Philippa you need to watch Downton Abbey. It's a great 'feel good' show that seems to go by in a flash. A sign of great telly.
