Comics

A particularly fun bit of TNA merchandise, the French comics collection:

Let's have a comic, shall we? A translation (from the original French, by me) of the "Eagle's Nest" adaptation. Hope you enjoy!:

Yes, I translated it all myself, just me and the occasional dictionary reference. I was going to Quebec that summer (French Canada), and I thought it would be good practice, so I went and found all the comics in that collection that weren't already reprinted in English in the TNA annuals, and translated them all. It took ages to do a page, and then I had to edit all the pages and type in the new dialogue. But it was worth it--half of the TNA stories were only ever printed in French. If you liked them, I'll be sure to post the others. There are also the ones in the annuals, that I don't have scanned. So I might as well ask here--I have both the TNA annuals. They're so common I always assume everyone has them, but if you guys don't, I can scan them at some point when I've finished with posting some other stuff. Sound good? Or would it be a waste of time when everyone already has them?

Yeah, I kinda thought they could use a new topic, but I can't rearrange threads, so thanks! :great:

I'm glad they're new for you guys! I'll post more, I promise. Hope you enjoy!

Great job Timeless and THX for sharing these ... :great:
That French TNA comic N°1 was the only one released if I remember correctly ?
No other volumes were made .
It pops up on Ebay now and then ...

Yes, it was just the one. Eight comics in all, four of which had already been printed in English in the annuals. The other four were only done in French, so those are the ones I have scanned and which I translated. So stay tuned for the other two French ones. Glad you're enjoying them. And anyone interested in the ones in the annuals?

Thanks! It was a lot of work--there's one comic that's 11 pages long, and it took an absolute age to do. Haven't posted it yet, but I'll get there. Anyway, it was good practice. I only wish I had more TNA comics to do. I have some French comics I'm going to read this summer, but they're all Disney duck ones (different fandom. Yes, I go beyond TNA. ). So stay tuned for more...

No problem! :d There's one more French comic left, a really long one, with a really dodgy likeness of Gambit in it. Then I'll have to ask if you want the English comics as well.

Re: Comics

Right, this is the last of the comics to only be published in French (the other four were also done in English in the annuals). This one is different in a few ways. First, it's extra-long, so I'll be posting it in two parts. Second, it's not based on an episode, unlike the others I've posted. It's a completely original story (but so are some of the ones in the annuals). But most of all, the artist is different, and he had absolutely no clue as to how to draw Gambit. Straight brown hair? Which reference photo was he looking at? He also gave him an airhead girlfriend named Marsha of all things. We're getting into bad romantic radio play here. Heck, this guy doesn't resemble Gambit at all. Maybe he's a replacement sent in while Gambit's on vacation? Yeah, that sounds right. Let's call him Chet.

Anyway, here's the first part of "The Curse of Falkenstein." Part 2 will follow at a later date.

Sorry for the delay! Lots happened the past week. Here's part 2 of Falkenstein. Let me know if you're interested in the English comics, too.

Re: Comics

I was looking at my TNA annuals yesterday, and I was wondering if anyone's interested in the rest of the comics? There were eight in total, and the ones I've posted here are just the ones that only appeared in French. There were four more, 2 that were in both languages, and two published in English only. I'm going to be reposting all the comics on my website as PDFs, but I was wondering if I should scan the rest. For that matter, is anyone interested in anything from the annuals? A lot of people already own them, and they're pretty cheap and easy to buy, but if there's enough interest I could try to do some scans (if I can without wrecking the bindings). Well? ^^

Re: Comics

It's a shame to admit, but I don't own any of the annuals. There was one on Ebay not so long ago that I nearly bought, but then I forgot about it. So yes, I am interested in reading them, if it's not too much trouble for you of course.

I forget about ebay auctions all the time, unless I write them down on the calendar. Even then I forget them half the time! The annuals are brilliant, though. I've had mine for years and I still get a little buzz when I read them.

Mainly I'm asking because I have them out, and I'll pack them away again if there's no interest (and once they go in the Avengers vault a.k.a. a set of storage containers in my closet, it's a bugger to get them back out again). But if you enjoyed the other comics, I'll definitely try and scan up the rest and complete the comics section. You'll see PDFs of the ones in this thread first, though (raw coding makes everything go slower  ).

Edit: One of the stories that I haven't posted is available on The Avengers Illustrated, one of Mike Noon's fabulous sites. You can read it here, and it's a good one.

Re: Comics

As promised, there are two new comics up on my site, available as downloadable PDFs. Go here to find them. They're both episode adaptations, but I have a couple more comics still to post that are 100% original stories. It just takes a long time for me to upload a comic, so it's just the two for now. Enjoy.
