Though you've got to reassure me, Gambit isn't leaving, is he?

Well, considering this is still taking place during the series timeline, and there are the seven overseas episodes to go after this, it would be kind of hard to write Gambit out (although I could probably manage). So I will reassure you: no, Gambit's not leaving. He'll be in the rest of the fic. Kinda. Khell knows what I mean--I can hear her snickering. No spoilers.
Maartje wrote:Little teasers but no spoilers - I patiently wait till the next update.
I'm glad though Gambit's not leaving: you're already giving him a tough time with Purdey, but I'm sure it's worth it.

Snicker.

I'm trying to figure out - just so I get a better grip on that particular part of Purdey's background - about the bishop. Her stepfather. So first, I gotta figure out where Purdey's Mum lives (I assume she lives with her husband ...) so that I can determine whether he's a Bishop of London, Bishop of Oxford, Bishop of St. Albans, Bishop of Chelmsford, Bishop of Rochester, Bishop of Southwark or Bishop of Guildford. Or maybe further away from London? Chichester, Portsmouth, Winchester, Ely, St. Edmundsbury & Ipswich? Just listing random dioceses here that I'm picking off a map.
And the other thing is - what's the social status of a bishop? What kind of house would he live in? About the size of Steed's farm? Bigger? Smaller? How high-ranking would he be considered?

Philippa wrote:OMG! That was an amazing chapter!
Now I understand why it's called Life on Mars. Poor Purdey, she's so confused and I'm guessing it's only going to get worse
Maartje wrote:Well, Purdey's certainly not the only confused one, where the heck are you going with this story? It's fascinating though, and I can't wait to read more!

Philippa wrote:Yeah it's very clever to use the same basic idea as in LoM, but I could tell from the start that it was already different. I noticed that it was still 1977, so I'm very curious to find out what has happened to Purdey.
In LoM, Sam saw himself as a little boy, so what will happen? Will Purdey see herself in her other life, working for the ministry, while she's still a ballet dancer and married to Larry? My mind is spinning with ideas now, but I have a feeling you'll keep us in suspence for a little while
