I have a poor view of all my earliest stories--none of them will ever be posted. Too embarrassing. But a lot of them I've taken the basic idea from and rewritten them, or am going to rewrite them. Early fics are a neccessary evil--you need them to learn.

Well, I'm making really good progress on my Life on Mars rewrites, so I should have enough for a pretty lenghty update in a few days. But now an old idea that I've considered a few times before is begging to be written. I'm even starting to hear dialogue:

"I'm dying, Purdey," Gambit hissed, teeth clenched against the pain. "There's nothing you can do. You have to let me go."

Really, can you blame me for wanting to write it when I can see the ploy unfolding in front of me with lines like that? But I have Vignettes ideas, too! Argh, argh, argh.

Well, it would be AU, so anything could happen. It'd definitely be darkfic, and I don't know how long it'd be, but probably very intense. But there's a framing device I want to try that'd work great with it. And it'd test Purdey's mettle for sure. Dunno. Think I should poke at it a little and see what happens?

All right, I think I'll put it on the list. It'll be an interesting experiment. I'm into experiments these days. Wonder when rabidsamfan will finish betaing my other AU. That one's also experimental. Too many ideas. Should really update Vignettes again, shouldn't I?

Well, I would have written something if I hadn't been evacuated and spent yesterday evening travelling to the coast. I'm so tired, though, that I might write to pass the time. Life on Mars is stuck on my home computer, but maybe I'll write Vignettes and AU stuff to pass the time.

Life on Mars has been updated. Purdey meets a couple of people, but things just don't add up the way she thought...

How did you manage to update? Last time I checked (last night) ff.net was still not working properly. And I think it still isn't, because I didn't get an email notification.
I couldn't favourite stories yesterday, or review them, and other people have had the same problems.

But anyway, I'm glad you could post another chapter, and I'm off to read

I had no idea ff.net was experiencing problems--the only problem I had was logging in, but only because I put in the wrong password. Everything uploaded and went through just fine. However, checking my e-mail, the notification that I'd uploaded a new chapter wasn't sent until quite a few hours after I'd done it so clearly there was some sort of problem. I was asleep by that point, though, so I never noticed it.

Anyway, either way the new chapter is there (just checked). Hope you enjoy!

Yeah I got a notification hours later too. I read the chapter, and it's great! I'm really intrigued now, because things are really starting to get more complicated now. It's nearly giving me a headache, so I can't imagine how Purdey must be feeling

Yeah, poor Purdey's having quite the time, and I can only promise that it'll get worse. There are quite a few twists in this fic, even more now that I'm doing rewrites. I promise it'll make sense in the end, but yeah, it's supposed to be a little confusing at the moment. Stay tuned...

Ha, ha, yeah, sorry 'bout that. I tried to make things clearer, but I think I just ended up convoluting the plot in the end. I think it'll cohere better in the end, though, so everything will come together. Eventually. Until then, there's still a lot of oddness to come.

I have good news! My betareader says she's almost finished betaing the AU fic I wrote in May and June (I've mentioned it here before). She hopes she'll have it done in the next couple of days, so then I can start editing it to post. This is good news!

I bring good news!

First of all, "Life on Mars" has been updated. I'm fond of this chapter for reasons that will become obvious, and I hope you enjoy it, too.

But it gets better. I also got my beta back for the AU fic, and as a result, I've started posting it on ff.net. Yes, you can now read the first chapter of my little experiment, about which I'm quite excited. It's called "The Question," and it sort of does a different take on the canon of the Purdey/Gambit relationship. It might even drag Philippa away from A2A fic for a moment.

"The Question" is available here. Feedback is always loved. There are more chapters to come, so I hope you enjoy it.
