In 'Dirtier by the dozen', when Purdey's at Mike's flat to watch those videos, and she answers the phone when Steed calls:

Purdey: Gambit's movie house
Steed: I thought I'd find you there!
Purdey: I resent that assumption

I love that one! And then later on he asks if she's been drinking. What does Steed think they get up to together? I love that whole episode. Also Gambit's sly little, "Well, I know all the nice girls love a sailor..." Know from experience, do you Mike?

G: We could stay like this all year.
P: What, and miss Christmas?

That made me laugh so hard, especially considering the uncomfortable position she's in..

The best part is the way Gambit says "What a way to spend Christmas" all wistfully. Don't give him ideas!

In 'Hostage', when Steed says:

Target's great for lines. Other than the "1% that kills you" classic, there's Gambit and Purdey's little exchange:

Gambit's always using the lonely line--he does it again in Dirtier by the Dozen, and he actually sounds so mournful I think he really means it. Purdey offers to buy him a dog.

Gambit: "Two heads are better than one."
Purdey: "Well, I'm certainly not buying you an extra head."

Oh, and he says "chatting?" I can never make out that part of the dialogue, so now I know. Yay!

Well, I'm not a native, so I do tend to get these quotes wrong, and it turns out I must correct myself once more.

He's up for ''a little chat'' - I watched the episode yesterday but I posted this quote only a couple of hours ago, so I couldn't exactly remember which one it was, but they both make very clear what he wants: attention. Sweet.

And not just any attention: Purdey attention! I love Target so much. It's such a great character study, and incredibly tense when Gambit runs the range. But the way Gambit cradles Purdey in his arms and vows to hunt down everyone involved if she dies...Gareth does a great piece of acting there. He looks simultaneously crushed and deadly dangerous.

"I'll hunt them down, and I won't stop until I've found them."
"We'll hunt them down. She means as much to you as she does to me. But we're all expendable."
"I know the rules, Steed. But it is Purdey."

Swooning and Gambit go well together. The quotation from Forward Base in my signature has a similar effect. All right, Purdey is actually the one who says it in the episode, but she's word for word reiterating what Gambit said in the argument from last Tuesday. To me it speaks volumes about how much Gambit cares about Purdey, and where he'd like their relationship to go.

It is very Purdey, although she wasn't talking to Mike that time--it was George Myers, the guy she gives a ride to the target range. George also says "You're a wonderful human being Purdey."

"But a terrible kangeroo." Yep, she's eccentric.

But an answer like that could've very well been directed at him

Oh, that is indeed a conversation from Target with (another) co-worker. She treats every guy who seems to be interested in her the same though, she's playing hard to get, and along with her sweet but fierce character, she makes the perfect Avenger girl.

Pretty much every guy in the department is after Purdey (face it, she's probably one of the only female agents around, and she has good legs). So she's quite used to being chatted up. I don't think she's ever given in to any of them, though. I always picture Purdey's motto as similar to Stacie Monroe's on Hustle--"I don't screw people I work with." But at the same time, she's got the Ministry's two most eligible bachelours wrapped around her finger. I suspect jealousy gets in there, although everyone must know that Gambit keeps getting rebuffed. But then again, he's probably the only one (of the young guys) with access to her flat...

Plus, Steed and Gambit know how to keep their hands to themselves. Purdey's always getting felt up by guys, which is rather annoying, but Gambit never pushes her. The closest he comes is putting his hand on hers, and when she pulls away he doesn't try again. It must be nice for her to be able to hang around them and not worry about what their expectations are.
