Nice picture! Shame about the quality though... I wonder what happened to all those original photographs.

Some of them were filed in newspaper archives, others were retained by the photographers who took them. Some were probably destroyed, sadly. I like this one because we have very few shots of Gareth hanging around Gambit's apartment set. I wish it was better quality, too, but I'll take what I can get.

Why would they have destroyed pictures taken on the set ?!

I don't think they dared doing such a thing.

Well, they probably thought they wouldn't need these pictures again... Shame though, they would have been collector's items today!

I have no idea if any have been destroyed or not. I've never heard of any photos beign destroyed. I was just ruminating on the possibilities. I think many, many of these photos are still stowed away in archives, either of newspapers, press offices, or individual photographers. It seems that certain press agencies have taken to selling their stock in one big lot to people who then sell them individually on ebay and other such sites (which is where I get mine). Others have been uploaded online and now exist in digital formats (no idea what they do with the originals, but we all know about archives like Getty images). The fact that we've been finding rare pictures that I've never seen before in online archives proves that there are still pictures floating around well beyond the same half dozen we see over and over in magazines and such. I don't know how many pictures were actually taken on-set. TNA seemed to be more into photocalls--the one with Gareth and Joanna in March, 1976 (when she had long hair), another in April, then August of that same year, then the 1977 shoot with Joanna in the black dress and Gareth in the yellow jacket. On-set photos are harder to come by, which is why this one is such fun.

These pictures are definitely collector's items if they're originals (ie, not reprinted by someone with a negative to make 100 copies). I only buy originals, which is why they all have captions on the back. Some of them can go for up to $50-$100. Hey, I never said collecting was cheap. :lolol:

I've got a lovely photograph at home, with Joanna as she is today, having a bowler hat on her head. ^^

Yes. I'll try to install my printer.
I got it via the avengers' official fanclub in France.
But it doesn't exist anymore. I'm sad.
You know what ? Timeless, Philippa, I have a project in mind, why don't we create our fanclub about the series, here on the internet ?
I'm not playing at something, I'm serious.
What do you think of that ?

I wouldn't recommend it.

The actress who Gambit slugs is called Annette Lynton. I only know this because her next job was as the part of a receptionist in the British soap Crossroads.

She was "falling for him".
Another bad joke, just like Gambit's "under cover". Purdey would just sigh and roll her eyes

She looked less than impressed when she saw him do it, didn't she? Taking a little nap in Gambit's arms (without the slug to the head first) doesn't sound bad to me, though.

So strange, isn't it? I certainly wouldn't mind either...

These 'lil Purdey/Gambit scenes are my reason for watching TNA!

Ditto. I pick my episodes for Purdey/Gambit brilliance. I write my fics for Purdey/Gambit brilliance. Sensing a trend here?

But what would be really inspiring would be a nice Gambit nap. :thumb:

I'd forgotten about this, but I found the link again, so I thought I'd share.

Gareth did a short film (just under nine minutes long) called "Two's Company" in (I believe) 2002. I'd seen clips from it, but a couple of years back I found the complete film online. I thought I'd post it here so you can have a look. It's actaully pretty good. Gareth plays a blind man, and there's one heck of a twist at the end. At the very least you might get a kick out of it.

Okay, I know I say I love Gambit's clothes. I do. I really, really do--I think they're awesome. Which is why I bought a magazine with a feature on Gareth and fashion. The following are not Gambit's clothes, sadly--they're what the magazine had him model. And at least one example is pretty scary.

Okay, article first. I love hearing him talk about his build and how it's hard for him to find clothes that fit properly (luckily all the TNA suits were tailored for him). He really did have a narrow little waist for a guy (in a good way :brows: ), although I always thought his legs looked pretty long. I also love how he has a lucky suit, and he talks about wanting casual clothes on TNA (and he brings up the old story about splitting his pants).

Image

But now we get to the clothes. The first example is pretty bad, the second middling, the third pretty nice. So we start with the worst and get better.

Image

Okay, I never thought I would see Gareth in a bad seventies track suit. This is just wrong on so many levels. Seventies at its worst. I'm not advocating this! There were better seventies clothes out there. Just not this. Oh, Gareth, I'm so happy you never wore this onscreen. :lmao:

Next two:

Image

The top one's a bit middling, but I love the bottom one. Gareth looks good in white. And in a turtleneck. Pity he's smoking in both though. Naughty Gareth.

Anyway, there's your little fashion supplement for the day. I think I need to go look at Gambit in his pinstripes to get over that tracksuit now.

I won't discuss the first outfit (seventies at its worst indeed, that's all I'm going to say) but the third suit is absolutely gorgeous! Why did they never make him wear white, it suits him!

Thanks for posting this.
