General Avengers talk

Kick-ass Purdey style: talk about the (New) Avengers here.

Well the Dutch dvd releases of the Emma Peel era have the French credits instead of the originals, and apparently tiny bits have been cut from certain episodes. That's the reason why I'm not buying them. But if you're fine with that, then go for it, because they're not very expensive.
Seizoen 5 are the colour Emmas and seizoen 4 the B&W ones. And I see they've reduced the price, only €17 now! Definitely a bargain!
I would like to buy the American Emma Peel megaset, but so far the cheapest I've seen on Ebay is €71

Yep , Philippa is right ...
Season 5 is the one to go for if you're after the color ones .
Cheap as chips as well ...
Stay clear from the Dutch season 4 set !
Like Philippa also stated they have the French opening / closing credits and certain episodes have cuts !
I was very happy with A-Films other Avengers sets , but season 4 is a serious blunder in my book !
A shame really ...

You can buy it from Amazon for ca. €35 + €4,60 shipping costs .
Not bad at all ...

I haven't got a credit card (yet) so I can't buy anything off Amazon..

So series 5 does have the original credits then? I thought both series 4 and 5 had the French credits for some reason. Must've been mistaken then.

I have season 5 from A-Film in the early seperate box sets and they have their original opening and closing titles , so if they re-used the same masters for this newer edition you should be safe ...

The funny thing is that they seem to offer two editions of Avengers DVD boxsets:

One for 17 euro: here and one for 25 euro, here. Same episodes apparently, but different sets? Confusing.

I'll take a look at the MediaMarkt tonight, and I'll see if I can find it. If not, I'll order either one of these two at Bol.

The second one of €25 is the second set (of four) - these contain episodes 13 to 18 from the Tara King era Maartje . You'll have to get the other set of €16,99 if you want the color Emma Peel ones . That set has 8 discs , the exact amount of discs my own A-Film Emma Peel set has . The 8 DVD set is amazingly much cheaper then the seperate 2 disc Tara set !
At that price I would say : Go for it ! :d

It's in my DVD player at this very moment, exactly the right box set - thanks for all your help guys!

I've started with the very last episode though, the one introducting Tara, just because I really love that one: a worthy goodbye to Mrs. Peel. It always leaves me with one burning question: what does Emma whispers in Steed's ear to make sure she's got the right man?

Suprise, suprise... I suppose that was the meaning of that whole scene, wasn't it? But what do you personally think?

''with me'' is for sure. So, flirting could very well be it. Altough I have a slight feeling that it might be something quite less subtile.

*joins in the massive sobbing* It really was a worthy way for Diana to leave the show, and I'm convinced the tears in Patrick's eyes were not acted at all....

While watching it, the question ''why did you have to leave, Emma?'' always comes up in my mind. The only positive answer is that if Emma had not left the show, there would never have been a Purdey! (so, always look on the bright side of life)

I was depressed for a whole week after I saw this episode for the first time, and I've only watched it twice in total because it makes me so sad. Diana was crying a bit before she did it, and after they shot the scene, Patrick went straight to his dressing room and wept.

Alas, Emma had to leave because Diana did. In retrospect, it was probably for the best. Where else did Steed and Emma have to go? And both the Tara and TNA eras gave us lots more avenging. But that ep...

I can imagine! Emma's departure is somehow touching: neither of them gets seriously injured and dies during a mission, it's just a realistic scene, which is - for the Avengers - high unrealistic.

It's a good thing she left after two series though, I'm pretty convinced that another two might have a destroyed their own, already legendary, names.

I've only seen The Forget-Me-Knot twice as well. It's actually quite a fun episode, but the ending is just so sad. It's not an episode you can watch very often, because it'll make you depressed

Lovely pictures! She does look very good in Forget-Me-Know, something I've never actually paid attention to because I'm always focusing on Diana's acting in that very last scene.

I watched the Joker the other day, and I must say the baddie scared the hell out of me! I usually don't find the plots of Avenger episodes very exciting, but this was definitely a good one, especially the last scenes with roses appearing everywhere and the guy calling Emma's name.

The Joker gives me the screaming heebie-jeebies every time I watch it. I hardly managed the first time round. That eye through the wall gets me every time. Brrr!
