90 years of age? That's fantastic! I shall definitely watch a little Avengers. Happy b-day Macnee!

Really? He turned 90? Unbelievable, really! like Betty White, hey, they would make a great couple, I think :lmao: But congratulations are in order for sure!

Amen to that. I've just posted about it elsewhere. While it's wonderful Patrick is still with us, it's so sad that Gareth's already been gone five years.

Re: General Avengers talk

Huge Avengers news today! We're getting brand new Avengers radio serials, this time in the form of remakes of the lost Keel episodes! :squee: I'm so thrilled I don't know what to do with myself. I love the original Avengers radio series from South Africa, so I can't wait to see what they do with these. What if they sell well? What if they do more eras? What if we get new TNA stories, guys? What if Joanna came back and did it?

(All unlikely, I know, but I can dream, can't I?)

You can read the news release here:

You're very welcome. We're all pretty excited. Alan Hayes has been doing some great work on the Keel episodes lately, giving some pretty detailed outlines of the plots and such, so we know more about them than we ever have, and I've been wishing I could have seen these episodes more than ever. So this is the next best thing. :hyper: Hopefully they'll announce the casting soon.

According to the Big Finish Facebook page, Colin Baker (6th Doctor) has been cast as Dr. Tredding, Dr. Keel's practice colleague. https://www.facebook.com/thebigfinish?fref=ts

Just came here to post the same thing, actually. The Sydney Newman cross-pollination continues. This is the other half of the exchange for having Diana appear in Who.

I wonder if this means that Dr. Tredding is going to have more of an active role than he did in the TV series. He popped up in Hot Snow, and after that was only referred to by name, but never appeared onscreen again. Given this casting, I suspect he's going to be around a bit more.

Haha great minds eh

And it looks like it's going to be a Doctor Who family affair, because it's just been announced that Sophie Aldred (Ace, companion to the 7th Doctor), will also be playing a part in The Avengers

Definitely. And oh, look, it's happened again.

Just come over from the Avengers forum to post this as well, but you've beaten me to it again. We're guessing that she might be playing Carol Wilson, Dr. Keel's nurse/receptionist (originally played by the late Ingrid Hafner), but then Carol's not in Hot Snow, so she might be playing Peggy, in which case she won't be around for very long.

They seem to be building toward the Keel/Steed casting announcements. Hopefully not absolutely everyone is from Who as it'll start to be less Avengers and more a novelty Who side-project, and make it tough for it to have its own identity. If Steed turns out to be Tom Baker, it might be a step too far. :lmao:

Haha they might not go that far, although I do have this fabulous mental image of Tom Baker as Steed now :lmao:

From what I've read they'll be announcing the Steed and Keel casting very soon.

It'd be tough to get the bowler on over that hair, anyway.

They did a photoshoot today, and it's apparently set to be revealed tomorrow, so I assume that'll be when we get to see Steed and Keel finally. Very exciting!

Incidentally, here's a list of the cast we know thus far:

And that's so exciting! I'm especially curious who they've cast as Steed :squee:

A TARDIS bowler--I'll bet Steed has one.

They've announced the casting now. Anthony Howell is Keel, Julian Wadham is Steed. I have to sit and ponder these now and see what I think. :thumb:

I can't say I've heard of either of these actors, but I'm still excited nevertheless

I didn't know the names, either, though I've seen Anthony Howell in Dirk Gently. It doesn't matter much, though, as going by the trailer, they sound like they'll be very good. I pre-ordered the first set yesterday.

Mara wrote:I loved the tag stories in the sixties, especially the Peelers. Those scenes were about as classic as the ''Mrs. Peel, we're needed'' and indeed they were often humorous. I sometimes wish they'd done that in TNA as well, even though there are some episodes that leave you with the feeling everything's Ok: Emily and Target do. But then again, the characters in TNA were portrayed as human beings, not as the Bond kind of goodies. It would make the series rather bad if they'd ended to, for instance, end Obsession with Gambit and Steed enjoying themselves with a large Scotch.

'...Gambit and Steed enjoying a large Scotch'...would have been a great end ..they'd certainly have needed it  Such a depressing episode...
