Joanna Lumley in the land of the Northern Lights

Joanna's beautiful documentary in which she travels to Arctic Norway to fulfill a lifelong dream: to see the Northern Lights.

It was broadcast again yesterday on the Dutch television! I even got several texts from friends who wanted to tell me Joanna was on the telly. :lmao: Unfortunately I did miss the second half because I went ice skating, but I think my mum rewatched the whole docu again.

My grandma called me about 10 mins into the programme to tell me it was on. She was watching it as well

You guys are really lucky to have these documentaries broadcast over there. I with the German TV would show her documentaries, they are better then anything they produce here.

This is most definitely my favourite. The whole journey, the music, everything is just right. Makes me want to travel to Arctic Norway as well to see the Northern Lights.

I've no idea if it's been shown in New Zealand I'm afraid. It is available to buy on DVD though.

I watched it last week-end and it was simply a true pleasure! Joanna really makes you feel like you're part of the journey. I wish she would make a new documentary like this one, or like the one on the river Nile.

She should do another cat documentary and call it 'Joanna Lumley and the Cat Returns'

I'm only saying that because the whole time while I was watching that film, I was thinking of JoLum :P

Well apparently she is going to make another documentary sometime soon. No word yet on what it'll be about, but it's bound to be fabulous ^^

Re: Joanna Lumley in the land of the Northern Lights

I've managed to miss this every single time it's been broadcast but finally, last night, I watched it. Stunning scenery, exquisite music and the beautiful Joanna -- what more could a girl ask for? ^^

Although what I loved above everything else was Jo's willingness to give anything a go, she truly captures the spirit of adventure. Also there was something so endearing about her desire to find the lights, so much so that I was so happy for her when she found them that I shed a little tear.

Marvellous stuff indeed!

I agree with you, Jo is willing to do a lot to make a documentary not just working for her but also for the viewers. I frooze when I saw her in that ice hotel and I shed a tear with her too, when she finally saw the lights - the music was doing its part, too. I'm glad you enjoyed it, so what's next for you now?
