La Bête

Well, since the old thread is gone I figured we could do with a new one...

Apparently the play will close in January instead of February next year: www.playbill.com/news/article/144962-St ... lose-Early

I wonder why they're closing it four weeks before they originally said it would end. All press reviews said that the tickets did actually sell well.

Oh boy, we lost the La Bête thread, too

I really don't understand it either why they are cloing down earlier. After this raving reviews I would have anticipated that they would play the whole time. Well, maybe this will give Joanna more time for AbFab, we'll never know. But it's still strange, I think...

Re: La Bête

Yes it's very odd, especially because they got such raving reviews so far in NY, as opposed to some of the more negative British reviews.

Re: La Bête

Sometimes this happens, not because they have been received poorly (both in reviews and ticket sales) but often to end on a high note, and to create even better publicity.

Re: La Bête

OMG - the La Bete thread went? NOOOOOOOO!

OK, I'll get over it! Ha, ha. Anyhoo - it must be closing early because they just weren't selling enough tickets. If they thought they could continue to pack the place out there is no way they would have shut early. It was a huge theatre though - double the size of London, which must be tough to fill night after night! Even if the critics rave about a play its no guarantee people will pay their hard earned cash to go & see it.

I just found a cool photo/ article that will cheer us up though!

I love that picture: look at the dynamics going on! Mark loves it, Joanna looks a bit confused and Davind's just wondering when he can get himself back into that costume.

Re: La Bête

Great find, to be honest, I would not have expected a scene like this: the cast playing Volleyball. I'd love to play with them

I think now we know why they close early: because they sell tickets rather slowly. I'm glad I was in part of a sold out audience!

I know lots of people were buying them on the night as opposed to pre-booking. Still seems odd, but hey ho, there you go!

The cast was on the Leonard Lopate Show (radio) today (23.11.), here you can listen to the interview and download it:

As I am writing this, I'm listening to it, so so far I cannot give any more informations only that I think she sounds like she's having a cold or so  . But enjoy!

You're welcome. I just finished listening to it, it's a very nice interview and it takes about 32 minutes. Jo, David and Mark were really wonderful and it was nice to hear their voices again.

Re: La Bête

Yeah her voice sounds a bit odd, so I'm guessing she's got a cold as well. Joanna's got one comment towards the end of the interview which is hilarious :lolol:

Yes, I agree with you, she was hilarious. I am wondering, maybe she catched a cold because she gave away her gloves and got cold Shall I feel responsible now? :lmao: Just kidding, I really hope she's doing well. Having a cold and being on stage on the same time sure isn't fun and since she's lost so much weight since the beginning of the play it might be even harder on her.
