I haven't seen many Joanna look-a-likes, but I've seen a few Patsy's though.. Even Google gives whole loads of photos of people trying to look like her, I love that.

I remember Joanna once said she made a Pats look-a-like herself too, with some tiny doll, put the hair up, created a small cigarette and clued it on and gave it to Jennifer afterwards..

She's most alike Diana Rigg I think.. I love that spoof, even though they don't refer to Jen's character as 'Purdey', it's so obvious she's parodying Joanna.. Little did she know.. I wonder if Jo herself has ever seen this..

I love how Jo herself did John Steed - it wouldn't have been as funny as it is now if she had done Purdey. And I must say Alan does a hilarious impression of Mike, haha.

I think Joanna made a better Steed than Ralph Fiennes did in the movie. They should have cast her!

I've never seen the Avengers movie - was it really that bad?

It was beyond awful.

That's a shame... Why do they always have to remake a series when it's succesful?! Just leave it that one! (frustration at it's top indeed...) I'm suprised though, I usually quite Ralph Fiennes.

Anyway - back to the topic again, shall we? I seem my caps have disappeared, I'll make new ones.

Well the highlight of the film was Patrick Macnee's cameo, and he couldn't even be seen, just be heard as he played an invisible man.
This sort of shows how bad it was. Bad plot, the actors were badly cast. I mean, Uma Thurmans playing Diana Rigg's part, seriously?! And Ralph Fiennes was completely wrong as Steed too. Not to mention an embarrasing performance by Sean Connery, who played the diabolical mastermind
Ok I'll shut up now so we can go back on topic.

Jen's looking so pretty, especially when she imitates Joanna..

As someone who saw the money before the TV series, I can vouch for the fact that it's actually an enjoyable popcorn movie, just a really bad Avengers movie. Ralph and Uma were terribly miscast (Emma Peel on Valium as my mom would say). I liked Sean in it, though--I think he gave the best performance! They really should have let Brian Clemens or somebody have some input. Both he and Gareth saw it and thought it was just terrible. (But apparently there's a store called "Purdey" hidden in there somewhere as an in-joke).

I love the French & Saunders spoof, btw. All those pictures on the wall like in Last of the Cybernauts, and the little joke about the downward-spiralling fashions on the series (It's been as bad as this from Linda Thorson onwards! ).

The F&S spoof is fantastic indeed. So obviously last of the cybernauts with those pictures, although I did miss a Cathy picture, but now I'm just moaning
So funny to think that Jennifer is playing Joanna's character, and only a few years later they'd start working together.

Oh and actually I know a chain of clothing stores in the Netherlands called Purdey. Awful clothes, but love the name of course. I wonder how them came up with the name
