Tea Shop Asylum (2009)

There's more to Joanna than AbFab: here's the place to talk about the other work she has done!

Tea Shop Asylum (2009)

Postby george123 on 04 Aug 2009, 20:48

Has anyone heard about a new film called 'Tea Shop Asylum' starring Joanna?
It looks VERY strange, but any news is good news I suppose.
There is a website (complete with a trailer in which Joanna appears) here...

No I've never heard of this. I check IMDb regularly, and it wasn't on there before, so it must've been added recently. There are no details about it though, it says 'in development'.
Great to hear that Joanna will be starring in something new soon though!

Speaking of which, has anyone seen Boogie Woogie yet?

No. I've checked, and they're not even any release dates published, so I think I'll have to wait a little longer...

I haven't heard of this project either, but I think it's great that she's doing some movies. To get her face ''out there'', haha. I'll hope to see more Lumley in cinema soon though, the trailer looks promising!

Boogie Woogie is such a strange one - it was completed ages ago yet there such a lack of information out there. All I know is that it got pretty much panned by the critics after the Edinburgh festival, with people suggesting that it will go straight to DVD rather than get a wide release. In the reviews I read, Joanna's performance was not mentioned, but the critics generally said it was an amazing cast in a poor movie.

I personally couldn't care less how bad the movie is - I just want to see Joanna & Christopher Lee playing husband & wife! Ha, ha. Particularly as the last time they both shared a screen it was in very different circumstances! Ha, ha.

Oh, & just one more thing on 'Tea Shop Asylum' - browsing the website I notice it is written by the person responsible for 'Dr. Willoughby' - so that would explain Joanna's involvement in it. There are clips from Dr. Willoughby on the site too (I think in the 'Showreel' section).

Do you have information about that film, what's the story, etc...?
Is it gonna be released in theaters or broadcast on television ?

Aw, that is a shame... In that case I think they might indeed go for a straight DVD release instead of showing it in cinemas first. (at least that would explain why they're still no release dates for the movie...) We could better focus our hopes on Tea Shop Asylum though: at least they've already come up with a proper trailer that looks fairly recent...

This movie just crossed my mind, so I searched for some more information and I found a couple of videos that might interest you guys. Here's one with Joanna in it - I'm trying to get my hands on this movie now, but if anyone knows where to find it?

Edit: Found it! ''The film should go into production early in 2010 and the cameras will role in the spring. Principal photography will be completed by May. Post production will last through the summer and the film will be completed by early Autumn of 2010.''

Seems a bit strange that they've releases so much footage already...

Ahahaha Joanna never fails to make me laugh!

This is England, where the language is English. And I insist you fucking well speak it!
:lmao:

Thanks for the video darling!
I think the reason why they release this footage etc, is just to promote it. It's just a small project isn't it? So they'll probably take all the publicity they can get.
The trailer is quite nice too.

You're probably right there. She does seem to prefer small producties lately, which is nice. Although I wouldn't mind her playing a leading part in a blockbuster in cinemas.
