Do you think it's possible that together we could compose a petition for Joanna to receive a Damehood?
Because Barry (DiVicenzo) over at the Avengers forum has said that he wouldn't mind starting the petition, which is amazing, since we need a UK national to do that. So, if you're all interested, we should put our heads together and come up with a brilliant plea to make Joanna a dame.

The press think it's too late for the Queen's Birthday Honours List that's announced in a couple of weeks, but almost 99% certain she'll be on the New Year's Honours List

Oh, it's so great that you've found someone who can actually start a petition! (as you have to be a British citizen) I'd most certainly be willing to help promoting and organising the whole thing, so count me in too!

Can you make this a 'sticky' thread? Apparently I have no rights to do that...

Anyway - the most important thing is promoting the petition, I think. We can post links on forums, on Facebook, and most important: send the link to people we know. I think we can do it if we all persuade as many people as possible to vote!

Of course, promoting it is very important. But first things first, we'll actually have to compose a petition first. I don't think Joanna Lumley should be a Dame is enough to go on

Well, at least it's pretty obvious what the petition's for, innit? But yes, you're right, we do need a proper description and all that: I'll think about it, and hopefully I'll come up with something...

There's one thing that's been worrying me. Are you actually allowed to sign a petition like that if you're not a UK resident?

No that was different. The petition, along with all the signatures was personally delivered at 10 Downing Street.
But the petition itself was on www.gurkhajustice.org.uk

I see... well, I've checked the website, and it doesn't say anything about foreign people singing a petition, so I guess it's alright. (unless it of course, isn't mentioned because it hardly ever occurs...)

So I guess someone should just get it started, so the others can inform as many people as possible!

Yeah, I agree Queen of the World is a way better title for her, but as Philly pointed out: damehood is a good start.
