Joanna Lumley in the land of the Northern Lights

There's more to Joanna than AbFab: here's the place to talk about the other work she has done!

^I didn't watch it on tv, since I haven't got one
But I've watched it about 4 or 5 times in total now, and it keeps enchanting me over and over :cloud9:

I haven't rewatched it on telly because I wasn't at home, but I've got it on DVD, and it keeps on amazing me.

Who else thinks Joanna seeing the actua lights was the most touching moment ever?

When she cried, I cried. That sort of covers the touching moment in my case

Btw , did anybody here saw the broadcast on Canvas some time ago ?
They took out Joanna's commentary voice and replaced it with a Dutch one !!
Needless to say , all of the magic was lost !!
How dare they take Joanna's wonderful voice out !!
It was bloody awful ... :yuck:

Are you serious?
How very dare they!! The bloody bastards!!
I can imagine all the magic was lost.
There isn't a more perfect voice than Joanna's, so I don't understand why they would replace it! :chair:

WHAT?! Why on earth would they do that? It's not as if people who watch those documentaries are too stupid to read subtitles.. :chair:

I'm very serious Philippa & Maartje ...
Why couldn't they just stuck some subs on there , that would've been the more sensible thing to do . They ruined the whole feel of the documentary like that .
I recorded it on DVD-RW but it was just too awful to watch again so I deleted it ...

The download links in the media section still work, if you'd like to have the original BBC broadcast.

Watched this last week. Joanna's grace and wonder continue to amaze me. Who could hold back tears as she watched the lights? Not me...

Sweeties darlings, the DVD has got extras! There are three deleted scenes on it, and a feature called 'filming the Nothern Lights'!

I'm going to watch them all know, and let you know what I think. I shall do my best to rip the DVD for you guys.

Yes, you must! I'm watching the deleted scens now, and there are really great. :squee:

There's this alternative intro, filming Joanna at home (?), and one scene of her visiting a Norwegian school. (which hasn't been shown at all) They also filmed in a vault, where all agricultural crops are kept, if something disastrous should ever happen to the earth. Kinda creepy really, I didn't know these kind of things really exist...

I have it, you can watch it when you come over on Friday. But I'd planned on watching a bit of AbFab and TNA (and maybe some F&S) as well, so I think you should stay all week.

No sorry sweetie, I haven't... The only television shows I'm watching at the moment is House and a little bit of Top Gear on Sunday.

Sorry. *runs and hides* That's exactly the kind of attitude my teacher show though: ''French is the kind of subject you should take time for!''
