Haha, I was just rewatching an episode of a Dutch news programme, and they showed a clip of AbFab as a reference to the economic crisis.. :lmao:

Haha, a clip from series one (pilot episode) and the scene in Edina's office, discussing the 'couple of old rocks' they replaced during a photoshoot. (''Stonehenge Pats.'')

There's even a reference on IMDB.com, turns out they've used another clip in 2007, also on 'de Wereld Draait Door', haha.

Random Jo love... on Youtube!

I am ABSOLUTELY in love with Joanna Lumley! The best thing to ever come out of the UK as far as I'm concerned!

You can read comments like this whenever you watch a random Joanna video. Cute. :cloud9:

I tend to agree, except for maybe one thing: I also do love Cadbury chocolate. *duck, cheeky grin*

What a cute comment! :)

Well, Cadbury's chocolate is nowhere near as good when it comes to acting, agreed. *ducks again, even cheekier grin*

But you're right, of course. If I had to choose between the two, I know whom I'd pick ...

I was wondering... Do you guys ever ''convert'' people to the Lumley fandom? I've done my homework for today, at least. I lent someone my Catwoman DVD the other day, as she just got herself a new Cyperse kitten. We just chatted about it, and she ended up asking me if she could borrow it for another week, so that she could watch it again.

Not to Lumley, but I have pushed people to try TNA, although usually they were Avengers-oriented already. I never run into people who are as rampant Anglophiles as I am--why do you think I'm here?

Hm, don't you find it hard to make the die-hard Avengers fans watch TNA? Because the Peelers were the best know episodes, most people see Emma as the ''one and only'' Avenger girl. (and if you're lucky, they might know or like Tara too, but that's where it usually ends)

Oh, I know how it feels. ''Joanne- WHO?'' Never mind. :lolol:

It's not as hard as it used to be. It used to be that everyone pretended TNA didn't exist, and trashed it when they didn't. But now with the DVDs, and Joanna so much in the public eye, and even just people opening their minds a little, more and more original Avengers fans are giving TNA a try (or a retry) and admitting to themselves that it's not as bad as they thought, and that they actually enjoy it! It's still probably harder to get the average guy to try it--most of the people I encourage to watch are already Avengers fans, usually Emma, but sometimes Tara, too, and are willing to poke around other parts of the show. I know I was Emma-only when I watched TNA. Now I think I love Gambit more! :lolol: Speaking of no one knowing who you're talking about--imagine you're a teenager, and your first onscreen crush is a guy wearing flares in a seventies action series. All your peers are in love with Orlando Bloom. Makes things difficult I can tell you. :lmao:

I have to say, in my experience, it's been easier to get non-Avengers fans interested in The New Avengers than the original show. I think that might be because (pause ... ) Joanna is more famous/high profile today in the UK than Diana Rigg.

Diana made a big impact with Mother Love (which I recommended highly, if you can get a copy), but everyone still knows her from The Avengers. Joanna has had so many hits since The New Avengers. I can't remember when I saw Diana on TV last - I think it was The Paul O'Grady Show.

That's very true, everyone (in the UK at least) knows who Joanna is nowadays. Sadly, the same can't be said for Diana, she's just not on our screens as much and she's highly underrated as an actress.
I agree about Mother Love, her performance in that is so brilliant that it actually scared me.

I have to agree that worldwide Joanna is easily the highest-profile of the Avengers actors, mainly down to AbFab. I remember I was reading Joanna Lumley: The Biography in public once, and someone asked me "So, who's Joanna Lumley?" "Do you know Absolutely Fabulous?" I asked. "Oh, yeah, my friend loves that show." "Yes, well, she was Patsy." Whereas unless people know The Avengers (or their Bond films), they don't have a clue who Diana is. This doesn't mean she's known at all, though--among a certain demographic of men she's very popular indeed, as evidenced from searching out Avengers books in about a bazillion used bookstores. Pretty much every single bookstore owner immediately gets a dreamy look and murmurs, "Oh, Emma Peel. I was in love with Emma Peel." It's quite funny actually. In contrast, no one remembers TNA, despite the fact that we were actually funding it near the end there. So I wouldn't say Diana's completely off the radar.
