Re: Her ring(s)
Her ring sometimes does look green-ish instead of black, even though I'm fairly sure it's an onyx.

''Some of her roles belie quite how bright she is – she can run rings round people with one gentle smile!”

I'm right-handed, so I wear mine on the left, and so does Joanna. I used to wear my watch on the left too, but since it doesn't really match my ring, I'll be following your example Timeless.

It's funny how many stones they can do though, but not all of them are pretty looking. Lapis Lazuli for instance is a beautiful stone, but it doesn't really work for a ring.

Here's a picture of what the stone (with loats of red) looks like.
Mara wrote:I think I've solved the mystery of Jo's ring. I don't think we were right about the Onyx, it's bloodstone - that's why it sometimes looks black, but it is in fact, very dark green. (with bits of red in it) Stones used to be a hobby of mine, and I still find myself trying to recognize as many as I can, haha.
You have to look at it really closely, but thanks to all the HQ picture we've got of Jo, that's not a problem. Here's a picture of what the stone (with loats of red) looks like.
Thanks, Maartje--never would have guessed that.
Timeless A-Peel wrote:Oh, you're right, it does have little specks of other stuff in it, doesn't it? Cool! Bloodstone!
I told you I've collected stones for a while, didn't I? Well, I dug them up, and it's most definitely a bloodstone she's wearing.

I recognised it, because I have one.I told you I've collected stones for a while, didn't I? Well, I dug them up, and it's most definitely a bloodstone she's wearing.
It's pretty, I'd love to take a closer look at it.
Cheers to Maartje and and her stone knowledge.

Ah well, I've got an onyx somewhere, heart-shaped, maybe I should wear it again. *dilemmas*

I have one and I think there's a picture of mine on the forum still too somewhere... Timeless posted a photograph of hers as well, which is really lovely - there's a great variety of styles you can get, but I figured out doing research online is pretty hard. It works best if you actually go up to a few stores and ask about the possibilities.

Fair warning, though: expect to pay around $500 (250-300 pounds) for a quality one.
lauraemilyd wrote:That's a beautiful ring Timeless! I think it is such a lovely way of remembering special occasions. I was chatting to my Mum about signet rings yesterday, and she had one with onyx in it but unfortunately she melted it down to create another ring :( She still has the onyx though, so I don't know if a jeweler could perhaps make me one and slip that in?
Due to lack of cash (oh the student life!) I am rather hoping that my parents will 'present' me with one as a university leaving gift. We shall have to see, but I'll definitely pop in to a few jeweler's to see what is around.
I couldn't find a photo on the forum of yours MAra- are there any on your FB page? Thanks for all your help lovelies
The stone is a rose zircon, which is the alternate birthstone for October babies (when you can't get an opal), and I'm in love with pink, so it worked. It's got the school name, my year, and my degree on it, and my initials engraved inside the band. My parents got it for me for grad, so yes, it makes for a lovely present.

lauraemilyd wrote:I shall have a word with a jeweler in my city- he's very talented, and Mum has had some pieces designed there before which are simply beautiful. Failing that, I'm hoping I could pick up a reasonable second hand one somewhere. I shall keep you posted!

Things are extremely exciting at the moment as I've an interview for an internship in the Majority Leader's Office in the House of Representatives in DC!
Hope you get it.
lauraemilyd wrote:Thanks Timeless, just need to schedule an interview now! ARGH! I'm majorly nervous- i had a telephone interview two weeks ago with a member of Congress, and I should hear back at the end of March. Lordy Lordy!
