I really have to snap back into Avenger-mode before I can finish my story. My mind's completely absorbed by A2A at the moment

It may take you awhile. You can see what happened when I first got into LoM. And that's not even counting the crossover I started. :lolol:

Please don't stop the writing Khell, I love your stories! Maybe you need some more inspiration? How about a few of the best TNA episodes to help you getting started again?

*lol* Awwww. *hugs* Thanks, you two. As if I ever could stop writing. Could as well ask me to stop breathing. *sigh* Although sometimes I do wish I could. When I'm in the crappiest of crappy moods. What I really need, I guess, is a nice long vacation. Unfortunately, I can't get one before end of August. *more sighs* Oh well, I got Sweeney Todd in July to brighten my day and mood.

Heh, how's that? A serial killing barber brightening my day! I guess I'm weird. :lolol:

Haha no you're not, not at all. I love Sweeney Todd too - it might be creepy story, but it's not meant as such. The songs are cheerful till the end, and I find it actually a beautiful love story to be honest. Are you seeing it in theater in July?

And yes, I think we all need a break. *sigh* I'm so fed up with the way things are going too, I just need to take my mind off things, but I can't right now. Ah well, I suppose we'll be fine in the end, right now we're just tired. (and then I actually find that there's nothing more satisfying than complaining, haha)

Re: Fan fiction

Jup, Sweeney's here in Munich in Gärtnerplatztheater. I considered seeing Pirates of Penzance, too, but changed my mind about that.

You know, I really would love to be Purdey. If I were her, I'd either not be in such a bad mood (she almost never seems to be in a bad mood and if she is, then not for long). Or at least I'd know how to kick something to pieces without doing myself a damage.

You know you don't mean it. You're just going through a dry spell. We all have one. Mine was called 2008. But we love your fic, so whenever you get back in the groove, we're here.

I wouldn't mind being Purdey, either, if only because I'd be able to hang around with Gambit, and it's very, very hard to be in a bad mood around Gambit, because the man knows how to make you smile, even with bad jokes. Plus, he's a good friend. And nice to look at. Excuse me, I need to get my hair bobbed and dyed blonde...

*lol*

You know, me and a school-friend almost bet each other we'd dye our hair blonde after Abitur. Luckily, we didn't get serious. I don't think blonde's my colour. But a nice auburn ... *grin*

Oh I wouldn't mind auburn hair, with the floppy Emma Peel style to match.
I think I could get away with that hairstyle

For starters, I'd be totally satisfied with getting my hair into something that can be called style. Usually, it's more like - well, not as frizzy as Joanna always claims hers is but not really manageable.

Re: Fan fiction

My hair's the kind of Swedish/Scandinavian blonde at the moment, but I've nearly had all sorts of possible blonde shades, so I'm used to having it dyed. I do love auburn hair though, but I know it just wouldn't suit me because my skin's far too pale, but I'm satisfied with the way it is now.

Funny, because I was lately thinking how on earth Diana Rigg got her hair like that, it's lovely!

Yep, me too. Right now I'm pushing on that AU, though, so I'm keeping busy.

I've never dyed my hair, mostly because I don't mind being a brunette--if I were blonde I think my hair and skin would fade together and I'd go invisible. I've got natural red and gold highlights anyway, so I'm good as I am. I just got bangs again a few weeks ago, though, and because I got my hair cut while I was at it, I went back to my old friend--the Emma Peel flip. Now, Diana's style was probably achieved using curlers and large quantities of hairspray, but as I can't be bothered, I find water and a curling brush works wonders. Yep, the Emma flip is my go-to hairstyle, and it's served me well. Everything I needed to know, I learned from the Avengers.

But back on-topic, the AU is getting there, slowly but surely. It's going to be another one of those "Oh, I'll just do a short fic," fifty page later monstrosities. Why am I so darn wordy?

Re: Fan fiction

By the way - maybe you guys can help me out here... I'd love to read a few stories dealing with Steed and Emma, but there are simply so many of them on FF, and I haven't got the time to sort out the bad from the good ones.

So are there any stories your particulary enjoyed reading?

You must, must, must read Rough Magic by M.P.Warren, a full-fledged novel featuring Steed, Emma, and Tara that goes well-beyond fanfic. A glorious read. Margaret also wrote a separate novel, The Quick and the Dead, which is also good, though not as much. Those are the two best. Highly recommended. You can find them here.

On ff.net, I'd recommend BitShifter's series of stories, cheeky little tales that start with his own original character, Rita Fox, and then move on to Emma, with guest appearances by Tara, Brodney, and a tough biker chick named Purdey! He's here.

I was going to link you to FOLLI In Avengerland, too, which also had some TNA stories, but I've just found the site is gone. Great pity--Sula's fic was genius.

Re: Fan fiction

Thank you for the recommendations! It will take me some time to read them all, but I'm sure I'll get there.

Anyway - I decided to go for a short story yesterday, so I picked Way Leads On to Way, which I thought was pretty good. I'm not sure if any of you are familiar with the author, (there is only one Avenger story by her online at the moment) but still...

Re: Fan fiction

I second trying M.P. Warren's two novels. They're so good I actually printed them, which I don't do with just any other fan fic. They're excellent! And the author is a very nice kind of person, as far as I remember. Sent some e-mails back and fro for a while.

FOLLI is gone? Noooooo! There were some great stories on that site ...

I only just discovered FOLLI was gone. I checked it a couple of weeks ago, and it was there, but now it's gone to the big internet in the sky, sadly. However, because I'm always paranoid stuff like that will happen, I did save all the Purdey/Gambit related stories she had on there, so they're not lost forever.

I didn't know you corresponded with Margaret Warren! What did she have to say--anything interesting? Her novels are definitely brilliant. You'll have fun, Maartje!

I have read "Way Leads On To Way," which was good, as far as I can remember. You have no idea how much Steed/Emma fic I've read, so things tend to blend after awhile. I swear I've read nearly every Avengers story on ff.net, and quite a few at the Avengers library, too.
