I used to think Honor was much taller than she was, too, because Cathy's so intimidating. But alas, Honor was only 5'6" (she's since shrunk because all the cushioning between her vetebrae was worn away doing the fight scenes on the concrete studio floor). In contrast, Joanna is 5'8", Diana 5'8 1/2" and Linda is 5'9" (Gareth was 6' and Patrick 6'1" if you're interested ).

Yeah, so Honor'd be about 168 cm or thereabouts. Not terribly short, but still the shortest Avenger!

I actually had quite a good laugh when I found out about Joanna's height, 'cos she looks really tall on, for instance, the set of AbFab, but 1.73m is actually really normal, she's about the same height as I am. So are us Dutchies really that tall, or are people on the Continent just small?!

On to the Patsy subject: I think there really is some Patsy-isk about Joanna herself, she knows the character so well after all...

Ah well, let's not forget that this event was really an embarrassing moment for the two of them, so...

And you're right, for today's standards, Joanna isn't that tall really, especially considering she's an ex-model. But she has got really long legs, which is always a bonus, and which makes you look a lot taller than you actually are. ( I missed out on the long legs gene as well )

I hope your other genes are alright though...

But yeah, you're absolutely right: 1.74m is short for a model, I think the require a height somewhere between 1.75 and 1.80 metres now, it's insane... But yes, she does have long legs (lucky her..) and that makes hell of a lot of difference.

But seriously - the tallest people in the world? That's scary.

Yeah, Joanna was fairly short for a model, but then she wasn't doing the catwalk or anything, so maybe if you're only being photographed they only care about how tall you look?

5'8" is actually pretty tall, even in this day and age. The Scots are one of the tallest people in the world as well, I believe, but that tends to be more the men (who are regulatly well over 6')--the women are quite tiny, though, and Joanna is 3/4's Scot, so she's actually really tall for a Scotswoman. (But she still looks so slight and short next to Gareth. I think that makes them look even nicer together. )

I'm British 1.73 m/5ft 8 and I don't feel especially tall - I know a fair number of other girls who are taller. And most models now are really tall, except Kate Moss who's around 1.67 m/5ft 6. Jo's slimness makes her look taller too I think.

The average woman is still only about 5'6", so 5'8"'s well above average. I'm half British and got all the genes, and I'm a bit taller than that, and bigger than quite a few girls and some of the guys as well as a result. I'm actually glad when I have to look up for a change.

And I'm only 5'4" so I feel really tiny at the moment

*lol* That's what I thought too. And they're dated 1979 or 1980 or something and I thought "So she wore a wig for Sapphire & Steel?" ... I mean, yeah, sure for the 3rd Assignment, but for the first two too? Didn't look like it, so either the date is incorrect or her hair grows pretty darn fast.
