Re: The Avengers: the Emma Peel era

Those are stunning pictures :claps:
I love the Emma Peel era (I guess nearly everyone does), and it was my introduction to the original Avengers, after having watched TNA.
I just love the swinging 60's feel of the colour era, and the very classy looking B&W era.
Every season is so very different, that's what I love about The Avengers. I haven't watched an Emma episode in ages, but I really feel like watching one right now

Re: The Avengers: the Emma Peel era

Not only that, I also love the character herself, and the chemistry between Diana and Patrick. He worked well with Joanna and Gareth, but between him and Diana was such a sparkle... (it actually does remind me of Gareth and Joanna, they worked that one out pretty well)

I'm still looking for the B&W era, I've seen some of them on Youtube, but I actually wanna get those in HQ as well. Strenuous, I know.

I can we can use this thread to share some pictures too, huh? I've been looking for HQ Diana pics, but they're all about 400x350 pixels, and that's not enough to make a wallpaper out of. So please do share photographs here!

Re: The Avengers: the Emma Peel era

Oh yes the chemistry between Patrick and Diana was magical. There was definitely a spark between Patrick and Honor, and not so much with Patrick and Linda or Joanna, but nothing could top Patrick and Diana. They worked extremely well together, and the fact that they liked each other and were good friends off-screen really showed.

Patrick and Diana's friendship no doubt informed their relationship onscreen. They really are hard to beat in the onscreen chemistry department (I think Gareth and Joanna were the only other pair to spark quite as well). Patrick and Honor liked each other, but there was always a little extra bit of friction that wasn't there with Diana, and Linda and Joanna were so much younger than Patrick, it made it hard to bridge the gap. And Patrick lived with Diana while he was shooting TNA, so Steed and Emma, like Purdey and Gambit, endured the test of time!

Emma's still my favourite girl and her era is the best, unquestionably. Season four is a TV gem. And Emma herself is marvelous because she can be a woman--feminine, wear a dress, flirt--and still be tough, intelligent, and beat up five guys at once. To me that makes her the ultimate Avengers girl. She has awesome clothes, too! And there's just something about Diana Rigg--her face has so much humour and dynamism to it. She looks like a kitten!

The B&W Emma Peel season is my absolute favourite , followed closely by the color season .
Those two seasons were magic in a bottle ...

I've got this one on my wall. Diana had some brilliant fashions when John Bates was in, didn't she?

Stunning! Thanks Eric!

And indeed she looked nice, I love that sixties-feeling about the show, and it especially shows off in the clothes she wore.

Re: The Avengers: the Emma Peel era

Lovely picture, thanks!

Anyway - I've just seen Dead Man's Treasure: loved it! The Avengers and cars, what more could you ask for? Nice idea to split up the famous Peel/Steed couple, turns out that they work pretty well on their own then too. By the way, am I right in thinking that 'Swingingdale' happens to be the same town as 'Murdersville'?

Yes I believe it's the same town that they used for Little Storping in Murdersville.

71, well, charm never ages.

Am I right that she's mostly in plays, nowadays? (I have seen her in a few interviews, but don't know much about her to be honest)

Yes she does a lot of theater work. That's how she started out, she went to RADA and then toured with the RSC. Diana really has a passion for the theater. I'd love to see her in a play someday.

Yes, me too. Maybe we can go to one of her plays in England when she's performing again, that would be lovely.
