The weaker series

I know they're all great, but yes: I'm forcing you to make a choice!

The weaker series were the most recent ones, 5. I love Huntin' Shootin' Fishin' but the other part of it 'feels' somehow different.. Patsy lost her hair and taste at the same time, while Edina somehow becomes more fashionable.. They should have paid more attention to that I think, even though Patsy herself is more vile than ever. The weaker episode in series five is Bookclubbin' for me, and even though I still enjoy watching 'em, I think it was a good decision not to do a series 6.. (at least not straight after they'd filmed 5)

I chose series 5. Having said that...there is nothing wrong with it. If you just consider series 5 on its own, its wonderful. Its funny, the characters are great, the J's all did a wonderful job, you can tell they were having a great time etc... Its just when you compare it to the other series, especially the first 3, that it loses something. Jennifer had no choice but to keep with the times and modernize it, however, there was something lost in translation because of this change. It didn't have the same feel to it. One thing I think had a negative effect was the new set. In the first 3 series all of the focus was on the characters and their antics. Then in series five the set was brighter and more colorful. There was a simpleness in the first 3 series that was lost in series 5. I guess what I'm trying to say is that, in comparison with the first 3, series five just seemed bigger and overdone. There was something very "in your face" about it.

I still love it, though :)

LOL...I seriously doubt that any of that makes sense to anyone else...I had a hard enough time trying to get it to make sense to me. Its just really hard to put into words.

No, I think I understand what you mean... Another thing I didn't like about the set was the idea of living room/kitchen all in one. The idea of the kitchen to be the centre as ''the heart of the family life'' and the centre of the set, worked.

I also agree about it all getting a bit out of hand. Some of the plots where a bit weird, and the characters got more and more ridiculous, especially Bubble. And the most important thing: the way Joanna looked in the series. I felt like they both got that totally wrong this time. Joanna once said that Patsy ''dresses better than she does'', and it's usually true, because she does have great style. But in the end of the show, she just adopted the trashy slut look, and it didn't suit her.

Really?
I am now wrecking my poor brain to think of outfits that Joanna wore in series 5, and as far as I can remember they didn't look cheap or trashy to me.
But then again, I think Joanna looks fab in anything
And on top of that I'm a chicken who still hasn't voted..but I think if I really have to choose, I'd choose series 5 too. Though funny enough, many of the critics have named series 4 as the weaker series, and series 5 as their real comeback. So I guess it's all a matter of personal taste.

Well, maybe it was the fake tan that did it for me. In combination with the shade blonde she had back then? Ugh. It made her look a lot older than she could have looked. Brook is right, they're all funny, so series 5 is not bad. It's just that it's the weaker season compared to the others: if it were a series on its own, it would have been brilliant.

I absolutely adored series 4, so I don't agree with 'the critics' at all. But then again, we're the fans, and we know best.

Right, I finally voted. It physically hurt, but since I'm already hurting from the flu, it's not that much worse

Yes, series 5 is still the least popular one, it seems. It's interesting that you picked series 1 though, I personally think it's fantastic. (even the pilot episode) It has so many great episodes, like France and the absolute highlight: Birthday. Only series 4 beats it for me.

My only favourite one on there is Birthday. I did like the others but I thought that it was not as good as the other series and I felt that Patsy and Eddie did not quite understand who they were. < If you understand me. Lol.

I do, I think. I don't think Jennifer knew where she was going with the series and characters in the very first beginning, and I agree that it shows a bit. It might have benefitted the role though, because if you watch the story of AbFab, it becomes clear that Jennifer had a totally different idea about what Patsy was going to be like, until Joanna started playing her.

I must say I still find the pilot (Fashion) rather good though, as pilots are usually very experimental and not always very good...

Yeah I watched it. I think she knew what she wanted them to be like and what direction she wanted them to go in. :D
The pilot was good because some do not even get put on Dvd so it was ok.
