The Avengers' timelessness is one of the reasons it's often cited as such a brilliant show. The sixties are fondly remembered as a whole (whereas people like to dump on the seventies, which is why TNA suffers, even though I love the seventies), so that doesn't hurt it. It's because the plots and the characters hold up well, particularly Steed and Emma--good chemistry never goes out of style, and a lot of Emma's wardrobe is retrochic now (so is a lot of Purdey and Gambit's, to be honest. I've told you I wear flares, right? Even before I watched TNA? )

I think the sixties and seventies are both great eras, each revolutionary in their own way. But if you make me choose, I'd have loved to grow up in the seventies, with John Travolta, Abba and TNA. Fabulous! Thanks to you, I'm always paying attention to Gambit's trousers when watching TNA, haha.

Me too! I've loved the sixties for ages, and now the seventies, since Life on Mars gave me a real look-in on the era and the music. I think I would have loved to have grown up in the seventies (except for the rampany sexism, could have done without that. ) And yes, you must pay attention to Gambit's trousers, and not just because they make his legs look good --I love flares, and I loved them even more when I saw TNA. I like seventies suits anyway--waistcoats and coloured shirts and longer jackets. Lovely.

Yeah, Purdey suffered as the resident fashion victim several times--I'm afraid women's seventies clothes weren't quite as good. There's no question Cathy and Emma were the well-dressed Avengers girls. But Steed and especially Gambit look fine--Gambit's suits are gorgeous, beautifully cut (Gareth kept a couple of them) to show off his figure (because I assure you he did have one ). I like his casual stuff, too, and when he strips down to just a shirt, no tie or anything. Yep, he looked good in clothes.

I will get a new update up ASAP.

I get what you mean. "July, 1977" was dark. This is...fluff. Angst gets you worked up, but fluff makes you feel all warm inside.

Did it? I was just going with "It really hurts, and Purdey will make sure everyone knows." That seemed about right to me. Glad you got some comedy out of it.

Ah, you noticed that, did you? Yes, Gambit and Purdey don't have a name for the kid yet. There are definitely more scenes to come. I have a few more to get in before the events of the Christmas story, so stay tuned...
